Happy bayram! Our long break has arrived because it's time to celebrate eid al-adha, Abraham's miraculous sacrifice of a lamb in place of his son Ishmael, in Turkey. School's cancelled next week Monday-Wednesday so that everyone can go home to their families and, as is the case for most of my students, their hometowns and villages.
Since I don't have an ancestral village in Turkey, I'll be heading to Antalya--a party town on the Mediterranean with the warmest weather in Turkey. The forecast for tomorrow says 75, and I'm packing my duffle with dresses, adventure pants and my camera of course!
I'll post plenty of pictures when I get home, until then bayram kutlu olsun (happy eid)!!
